Wines of Alella. This region of Spain is a designation of origin located in the autonomous community of Catalonia, specifically north of Barcelona along the Mediterranean coast. Its name is due to the municipality of Alella where the denomination's headquarters are located.
It has an extension of 310 hectares of vineyards distributed by the 8 wineries that work in this region. The varieties that are grown are: Xarel·lo, Garnacha blanca, Chardonnay, Macabeo, Parellada, Chenin and Sauvignon Blanc. As a result, the main production is based on white wines, although some red wine, usually Tempranillo, is also produced, creating very soft and fruity wines.
