Wines of Alicante is a denomination of origin since 1932 covering much of the province of Alicante and some area of ​​Murcia, a total of 14,200 hectares distributed by some 50 existing wineries.

The climate is Mediterranean with average rainfall of between 500 and 300 mm depending on the area, the coastal area can have less than 300 mm, while the area of ​​La Marina more than 500 mm. The soils are limestone and sandy with high porosity and optimum permeability for the cultivation of the vine.

The most cultivated varieties are Monsatrell, Muscat of Alexandria and Garnacha, although we can find an extensive range of varieties such as Airén, Sauvignon Blanc, Tempranillo, Syrah, Macabeo ...

The wines of Alicante are very diverse and creative, highlighting a wide range of types of wines (red, white, sweet, pink ...), it is said that there is a Alicante for each type of consumer. The white wine of Alicante stands out for being of the Moscatel de Alejandría variety, very famous in the area of ​​La Marina, being light wines and very persistent in the mouth. The red wines are usually of the Monastrell variety and are very balanced with toasted touches of very well-known aging and a great body.

The fondillón de alicante is a type of wine of great aromatic intensity, neither dry nor sweet, powerful in the mouth, of long aging in the cellars, considered a jewel from Alicante due to its exceptional balance and golden rims on an amber color.
