Almansa wines come from a region located in the southeast of Albacete (Spain). In this area, the Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell grape varieties are especially cultivated to make red wines. In the white Almansa wines the Airén and Macabeo grapes predominate. Consequently, this area produces varied and highly valued red and white wines.

Viticulture in this region has a great tradition. It is said that Almansa wines were already made in Roman times, although there is no evidence until the Reconquest. In addition, this region has wineries with a long history in the production of wines. For this reason, Almansa wines are considered of very good quality.

The climate of the region is continental Mediterranean. Furthermore, the microclimate that affects Almansa wines is characterized by low rainfall, high temperatures in summer and moderate temperatures in winter. Its vineyards oscillate an average altitude of 850 meters above sea level. And finally, the soils are limestone and poor in nutrients, so they have excellent conditions for the production of high quality grapes.

The Almansa wine region is small compared to others. In total there are no more than 8,000 hectares of vineyards managed by 12 wineries. However, the wines of Almansa enjoy a great prominence at the national level thanks to their quality.
