Beefeater's history dates back to 1820 when a distillery under the name Chelsea was opened. Later, pharmacist James Burrough bought the distillery and began making new spirits. Various botanicals and ingredients are used to make Beefeater gin, including alcohol, juniper, bitter orange, lemon, almond, and lily. All of them are macerated for at least 24 hours with neutral grain alcohol. Afterwards, the mixture is distilled for 7 hours and finally water is added to moderate its alcohol content.
