Many wines have something to tell, but very few have a story like Jean Leon's behind them. This man was a dreamer, visionary, enthusiastic, charismatic, nonconformist and winner in the culture of wine; his real name was Ceferino Carrión, a Spaniard who did not have an easy childhood but embarked on a long trip out of Spain without money in his pockets, tried his luck and won. He had the opportunity to work for great artists such as Frank Sinatra or Marilyn Monroe in Los Angeles. He founded his own restaurant called La Scala and later returned to Spain to found his own winery in El Penedès to create high quality wines.
The wines of Jean Leon are considered high expression for their nobility and uniqueness of aromas and flavors. Each one carries a name that refers to an episode in the life of its founder. For example, the 3055 wine range refers to the license number you had when you worked as a taxi driver in New York.
The vineyards of Jean Leon have an extension of 63 hectares spread over different vineyards at an altitude of 600 meters. These are called Vinaya La Scala, Vinya Le Havre, Vinya Palau and Vinya Gigi, where different varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot or Merlot are cultivated in an ecological way and with full respect for the environment, practicing the techniques of organic viticulture.
