Casa de Outeiro is a winery that produces Ribeira Sacra wines. Specifically, it is located in the Quiroga region (Lugo). There, two entrepreneurs acquired in 2019 a large 32-hectare plot with an old mansion belonging to the Casa de Outeiro to convert it into a winery.
The Casa de Outeiro plot has a total of 24 hectares of vineyards where Godello and Mencía are mainly grown. These vineyards are established on a hillside 350 meters above sea level facing the Sil River. In this way, they are highly conditioned by a continental climate with an Atlantic influence and a somewhat special microclimate. In addition, its soils have an enormous diversity, varying between clayey and loamy soils, although slate terrain always predominates.
The entire vineyard is cultivated on terraces facing the Sil River. Likewise, the farm has all possible orientations. All this gives rise to optimal growth of the vine with the aim of creating aromatic, mineral and highly structured wines. In fact, the first harvest of these vines is scheduled for 2023. Meanwhile, the winery produces Ribeira Sacra wines under its brand from vineyards located on other plots in the area.
The Casa de Outeiro winery has 3 ranges of wines: Origin, Coat of Arms and Historic. The first refers to the land where these wines are produced (Ribeira Sacra - Quiroga region). Next, the second is a tribute to the coat of arms of the Casa de Outeiro family, on which the project is focused after the purchase of the mansion and the plot. And finally, the last range is the highest and highest quality whose wines have a high organoleptic potential.
Currently, the wines of Casa Outeiro Mencía Origen and Gama Escudo and Casa Outeiro Godello can be purchased.
