Pago de Carraovejas is a very unique winery located in the Ribera del Duero, on the slopes of Carraovejas, hence its name. This winery was founded in 1987 by José María Ruiz, a Segovian lover of good food who, in 1982, had founded what is today one of the most prestigious and renowned restaurants in Segovia.

The vineyards of the winery are located at an altitude of 850 m. above sea level, on a slope perpendicular to the river Douro, on a gently rolling land where three types of varieties are grown: Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The climate that affects the vineyards is very important for its proper development, so it suffers long and cold winters and very short, dry and hot summers with temperatures that can reach 40 ºC. The precipitations are between 300 and 400 mm. a year and the breezes that the roses of the winds face towards the west are frequent, favoring the optimum health of the grape.

The winery has an approximate area of about 14,000 square meters of built area, where we find the facilities where the wine is made, always in constant renewal to stay at the forefront and always elaborate the best wines in the most efficient way possible.

Its wines are undoubtedly an enological jewel, we find four red wines: Crianza, Reserva, El Anejón and La Cuesta de las Liebres. All of them are elaborated with the most advanced techniques and with a deep respect towards the environment and the natural processes that allow to create very singular wines.
