Ribeiro wines have a long winemaking history. In fact, it is known that this region began to cultivate the vine already in Roman times. For this reason, for many centuries Ribeiro wines have evolved to the present day.

The Ribeiro wine region is located in the province of Orense. Specifically, between the valleys of the rivers Miño, Avia, Arnoia and Barbantiño. Therefore, it has a Mediterranean climate very softened by Atlantic influences. This makes it a very peculiar climatic zone that makes it possible to make Ribeiro wines as we know them.

The Miño river basin stands out for having very marked Atlantic influences on its slopes. For this reason, the Ribeiro vineyards that settle in these areas have a touch that makes them so special. The marked thermal contrast between day and night is essential for the correct ripening of the grape. In addition, the protective effect of the mountains that surround the vineyards favors a natural acidity to the wine thanks to the parallel alcoholic maturation with respect to the phenolic.

The region's soil is rich in granitic materials with sandy-loam textures. At an average altitude of 450 meters above sea level and with a very peculiar microclimate. In addition, its complex orography by the mountain systems, rivers and valleys, make the vineyards very characteristic. Consequently, the grapes are of a high quality in general and their wines as well.

Likewise, in Ribeiro the wines are made mainly with Treixadura, Godello, Caiño and Brancellao. Although there are other typical and native white and red varieties of the area with which great wines are produced in Ribeiro.
