Viñedos de Nieva is a winery located in the municipality of Nieva (Segovia), within the framework of the denomination of origin Rueda. The foundation of the winery dates back to 2009 by Grupo Martúe, culminating its business expansion process in search of the production of small productions of high quality white wines of Verdejo. However, the vineyards of the area date back to the 12th century when the commercialization of wines in the monastery of the Cartujos took place.
The winery has a total of 60 hectares of its own vineyard, of which 54 are of the Verdejo variety and the other 6 of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety. The soil on which they have been is sandy with abundance of songs, at an altitude of about 850 meters above sea level, in an exclusive natural setting between the Castilian plateau and the Guadarrama mountain range a few kilometers from the winery, which It grants a special climate of cold winters and hot summers with cool nights, which allows the grape to mature in optimal conditions for the production of high expression wines.
The vineyards are cultivated in the form of a glass from free standing, since many of them survived the plague of the phylloxera in the nineteenth century, so many of them are more than 100 years old. From there to the limited production of wines from this winery.
The wines of Viñedos de Nieva are considered large Verdejos of the denomination of origin Rueda for their quality and high expression that makes them unique and recognized nationally and internationally. Blanco Nieva is a fine and elegant Verdejo that is cold-macerated and fermented at 15ºC for 23 days, Blanco Nieva Pie Franco is considered the jewel of the house because the origin of the grapes with which this wine is made date back of 100 years, and has a very limited production.
